Throughout his career, Dr. Simos has had a diverse background of oral surgery experience—teaching and working at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, working in private practice at Oral Surgery Group, and having hospital privileges at both Robert Wood Johnson University and St. Peter’s University Hospital. Oral surgery is his passion, and he enjoys getting to know his patients and helping them solve their oral health problems.
Education & Residency
Dr. Simos knew he wanted to be a dentist from a young age—his godfather was also a dentist—so he did his undergraduate studies in pre-dental science at Lehigh University. The pre-dental program was affiliated with the University of University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, and after his undergraduate studies, he went on to earn his Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) in 1996. While he was in dental school, he found the oral and maxillofacial surgery specialty and became interested in the diverse range of skills and procedures oral surgeons perform.
Dr. Simos completed a four-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Here, he gained experience treating a wide range of oral conditions. After completing his residency, he gained additional experience by working as a faculty member at Tufts Dental School before starting at Oral Surgery Group.
Certifications
Following his education and training, Dr. Simos became board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). To receive board certification, he completed a comprehensive exam and rigorous peer evaluation process. In the spring of 2020, Dr. Simos became an Examiner for the Board, a distinguished position that allows him to be a part of the Board Certification process.

When he is not working, Dr. Simos likes to spend time with his three children, going to their sporting events and other activities. He also enjoys traveling, spending time outside, running, and walking. He and his family love going to see Devils games together during hockey season.
